The Darcy Coat is a full length coat pattern, made for mid-heavyweight fabrics like wool coating and corduroy. Amy made up this pattern in a size 10, using luxe Navy Pure Wool Melton and opted for buttons from her stash, rather than snap closures. She chose to omit shoulder pads, preferring a soft casual shoulder, and customised the welt pockets to be a little smaller. You'll need intermediate-advanced level sewing skills for this one, and it is by no means a quick project. Amy noted that she spent a lot of time preparing and fusing the pattern pieces, and that some of the construction steps were very different to how she would usually sew. There were also a couple of steps missing, such as sewing together the lining sleeves and closing the collar, which required a little unpicking and backtracking. Overall Amy was happy with the end result, and loves the style of the collar!
