Our Make by TFS pattern range evolved from our desire to encourage as many people as possible to sew their own clothing, a natural extension of our sustainable and ethical business values and our design-driven philosophy! If you're thinking about trying a Make by TFS pattern and need a little inspo, this post is for you! Jade, Genevieve, Bianca, Steph and Charlotte from our HQ team share their recent makes and what they love about the patterns below.

Jade — Bloom Shirt

"Bloom is a great staple pattern, which can be made many times with simple adaptions (eg. sleeves!!) to change it up into a variety of elevated wardrobe basics. I used a crinkle finish linen for this black version, and LOVE the crinkly look, especially with the sleeves! Plus no ironing needed is a huge bonus!"

Genevieve — Ivy Dress

"Four things I love about Ivy... 1. Room to move! 2. Easy to dress up or down depending on the occasion. 3. Pockets… because pockets! And 4. I’m loving the cute tie high neck detail – something a little different to other patterns on the market. I used a Liberty soft twill which worked perfectly and was super easy to sew with!"

Steph HO May Jean Canvas
Steph HO May Jean
Steph — May Jean

"What I love about the May Jean (and all Make by TFS patterns) is how well designed they are, from drafting through to instructions, so your final result is a really top quality garment. I chose a cotton canvas for my May Jean and it’s perfect, a nice weight! I’m making some May Shorts for summer, because I love my jeans too much to only wear them in the colder seasons!"

Bianca OL Liberty Cloud
Bianca Liberty Cloud
Bianca — Cloud Set

"I love the Cloud pattern because it is so easily adaptable! For this version I cropped the hoodie and made the pants slightly shorter and have made another version since that I adapted even further. I’ll be making many more sets for lots of different people in my life as gifts this Christmas season! I chose Liberty Murray Sweatshirting - Mary Jean / A for this pattern and I think it worked out really well! I love the soft cotton texture and the fun, bright print. It’s a great pick-me-up for lazy weekend days!"

Charlotte — Ivy Dress

"I love how versatile the Ivy dress pattern is, and due to the simplicity of the pattern it really lets the fabric shine. Also, depending on what version you do it is a pretty straightforward and easy pattern to sew! I have made a couple of versions of the Ivy dress and think using a bright or patterned fabric works well as the pattern itself is nice and simple. This one is a purple deadstock linen!"
