Adelia Dress

Read our review of the beautiful Adelia Dress by The Hemming, featuring crisp Heavyweight Linen in White!
This week on the blog we picked out a summertime classic; the Adelia Dress from Australian-based patternmakers, The Hemming! It's an ideal pattern for sewing in your favourite linen colour, with an easy, elegant silhouette and two options for length. We chose to make ours up in fresh Heavyweight Linen in White for a timeless feel! Read on for our review, with garments kindly worn and sewn by Frankie from our Online Store team.
The Adelia Dress is a simple button-down style featuring neckline facings, side splits and in-seam pockets that lend the dress a simple, clean finish. The pattern comes in both midi and mini length options, plus The Hemming has a handy blog post on how to hack the pattern into a top! We chose to make up the midi length in size XS for Frankie and used 2.1m of our Heavyweight Linen in White. We double-checked Frankie's measurements against the pattern itself as it doesn't have a finished measurement chart and found the end result to be a great fit!
The instructions for the Adelia were super easy to follow and recommend the pattern for beginner to intermediate level sewists. We think it would be ideal for a confident beginner - there are a few trickier steps including finishing the neckline facing and sewing in-seam pockets but because the instructions are so clear, a confident beginner should be able to make this dress with ease!

Heavyweight Linen - White
The Hemming recommend using a light to medium weight woven linen, cotton, lightweight denim or chambray for the Adelia. We’re loving how chic our version looks in fresh white linen, with just the right amount of natural texture. One of the best things about linen is that it softens over time too, so this dress will look and feel even better with wear!
