Charlotte's Remakes Her Favourite Dress

HQ sewist Charlotte remakes one of her beloved dresses!
Charlotte, from our HQ team, decided to recreate one of her favourite makes from 2020 — a dress that's so loved it's now threadbare! She chose a bold highlighter yellow cotton to match the intensity of the original fluro dress and we love the result! Read on for details of her make, plus lots of photos!
Patten — Simplicity 715 paired with Big Hailspot Cotton - Highlighter Yellow
Charlotte originally made this dress back in 2020 when she first started sewing! She picked up the pattern while living in Japan, and the instructions are all in Japanese so it felt like a big achievement to have sewn something without being able to understand the instructions fully. For this remake, she used 4m of our Big Hailspot Cotton - Highlighter Yellow plus six shell buttons.
Charlotte made a few alterations to the original pattern, including lengthening the bodice, changing the proportions of the skirt and the skirt ruffle and making her own bias binding to bind the neck and sleeves. She enjoyed revisiting this pattern as a more experienced sewist, as has become an easy-sew pattern and took only a day to make.
