Pattern Used — The Nelly Coat by Juliana Martejevs

The Nelly Coat is a basic boxy coat pattern, with patch pockets and embroidery detailing. This unique pattern needs to be fully blanket stitched together by hand, which may sound a little intimidating, but Ella said she got the hang of it quickly after watching the YouTube video tutorial here. She made a size XS in the short version, and used 1.6m of our Houndstooth Wool Blend Coating in the colour Grey Fleck, a half ball of 8 ply yarn and 1.2m of bias binding. Ella said the fit was true to size but shorter than she anticipated, and the entire project took her about three evenings to complete. She mentioned that next time she'd choose a firmer, more structured fabric for a sculptural look, but she loves how comfy and easy to wear this houndstooth version ended up!

Juliana recommends using a medium to heavyweight woven fabric, such as a wool coating for the Nelly Coat.
