Nothing brings us more joy than seeing our Make By TFS patterns come to life in our community!

Nov 28 2022

We launched our May Jean pattern earlier this year and it swiftly become a firm favourite of the Make By TFS wardrobe. May is a classic high waist jean pattern set, featuring a zip fly closure, high rise fit and five pocket construction, with three leg variations - wide, straight and curved. The pattern is available in our NZ 4-32 size range as a paper pattern in our stores (including online), as well as a PDF download right here. Below is a round up of some of our favourite May makes spotted in the community! We hope you enjoy!

Duo 1

@ivanasews made these comfy natural denim May Jeans (on left) and we love the laid back look of @erincharter's straight leg view May Jean make — paired with our Bloom Shirt pattern no less!

"The instructions taught me a new fly front construction method, which I really liked and will use going forward." @ivanasews
Duo 2

@fabric_scraps made these May Shorts in one of our Upcycled Cottons, that she notes to be "the perfect shade of summer jeans" — we'd agree with that!

Steph from our Online Team also has May Shorts in her sights. "I chose a cotton canvas for my May Jean and it’s perfect, a nice weight! I’m making some May Shorts for summer, because I love my jeans too much to only wear them in the colder seasons!". We're eagerly awaiting their debut in the office!

Duo 3

Ziva from our Adelaide store team used our May Jean pattern and our Bold Blooms Linen Viscose to create these phenomenal pants (on left)! Modifying the pattern to omit the front fly, adding a side zip, adjusting the waistband to open at the side, and adding patch pockets. And how incredible are @definatalie's fabulous clashing 70s print May Jeans on the right, self-titled as "clown pants". We love them!

Polly makes mayjeans
@polly__makes surprised herself with this beautifully sewn pair saying "JEANS! I can’t believe I actually made jeans, and I’m pretty pleased with the fit."
Duo 4

@iffystrike (on left) made these wide leg view May Jeans with no adjustments and noted that they are "so much better than my existing (high street) jeans. Definitely remaking very soon!"

These are @haberdash.on.the.fly's first pair of Mays (on right), see the second pair here. "Pretty dam happy with the fit" with special mention to the fly construction guidance "Best EVER fly instructions!" which makes us so happy to hear!

Gabby sews mayjeans

@gabby_sews made the shaped leg view mentioning it took a while to muster the courage to make them but look how they turned out! Jean perfection!

"Made a *classique* pair of blue jeans and had a really fun time!" @gabby_sews
Sonia lois mayjeans

These are @sonya_lois' second pair of May Jeans and the inspiration came from this floral pair we made for the blog, we love how this play on print scale turned out! Both these fabrics, the Tiny Rose Denim and the White Rose Denim, are available from our online store.

After a few testing moments @ghoulishconstructs finished these wonderful classic blue wide leg view May Jeans with a little gingham surprise in the pockets!

"I am happy with them and feel like a pro." @ghoulishcontructs
