Pattern — Crosstown Crescent Bag by Grace Ovenden

This pattern features a crescent shape, and can be worn either across the body or on one shoulder. It's the perfect size for when you need a little bit more space than your average fanny pack or small purse. With detailed instructions and a sew-along tutorial video, a confident beginner can definitely make this bag, even if you have never sewn a zip before! Annelise used a small designer deadstock lamb leather hide plus viscose lining for the black version, and 13oz oak coloured cotton denim with cupro lining for the other. Rather than using webbing straps, she made up self-fabric straps matching the bag fabrics/leather used.

Annelise would definitely recommend this for a beginner sewist, as long as you choose a simple woven fabric like denim. Leather requires some slightly different techniques and a very sturdy sewing machine. She suggests checking out the YouTube video prior to making your bag too, which you can find here.
