We're super excited about the new collection Geo by Papercut Patterns! Say hello to the Ravine Dress, our new go-to for impending festive functions and seasonal soirées! This dreamy bias cut number features a plunging deep v back, waist tie, a sleeveless option and elegant cross seam detail at the bottom front.
Ravine Dress from Papercut Patterns
The Ravine is a gorgeous pattern and the perfect style for this time of year with festive gatherings requiring something extra special! Ours was sewn up in a size XS for the lovely Annelise and found that this was a great fit! Its soft bias cut gives it a figure-hugging feel whilst retaining a relaxed amount of room through the body. It would be perfect on a warm summer’s evening and gives enough room to layer a tee or long sleeve top underneath on cooler days. We used 2m of our Rayon Crepe - Marigold (126cm wide) for the size XS. As always with Papercut Patterns, the instructions were very well detailed and easy to follow. Papercut suggest this pattern would suit a 'Rookie' sewist, which we would agree with. The only part that could be a little tricky for a beginner would be cutting and sewing the bias seams, especially with a slippery fabric like rayon! We'd recommend reading the instructions carefully before you start and taking your time with the cutting.

Papercut suggest that the Ravine Dress would work best in lightweight woven fabrics with drape, such as silk, rayon or chiffon. We decided to make ours up in our beautiful Rayon Crepe - Marigold. Isn't this such a vibrant and eye-catching colour?! This dress would also work beautifully in a printed silk, a midweight linen, soft crepe de chine or even a sheer chiffon over a slip for a romantic evening look.
