To help those not familiar with the eclectic suburb of Newtown, where our new store is located, we've put together a little neighbourhood guide! Newtown is where you’ll find eclectic vintage shopping, iconic arts and craft spots, and a a popular thriving dining scene. We're super excited to get to know this vibrant inner Sydney community and hope you'll join us in exploring all the fun spots near our store below.

All Buttons Great and Small — 419A King Street

Opened in 1989, All Buttons Great and Small is the local destination for quality buttons! They also offer an in-house button covering service, and will cover buttons in a variety of styles and sizes, in 24 hours or less. Take along your fabric and if the quantity is under 10 pieces, they may even be able to make them while you wait, or on the same day.

Khamsa Eatery (Breakfast + Lunch) — 1/655 King Street

Laid-back Khamsa Eatery is dedicated to preserving owner-operator Sarah Shaweesh’s Palestinian culture through food. The dishes served here tell a story weaving together the vibrant tapestry of her culture celebrating heritage and community.

Repressed Records (Music) — 413 King Street

Repressed Records specialises in independent and underground vinyl records from Australia and around the world. Find everything from punk to classical, new and secondhand in this special spot that’s held its ground on King St for over 20 years.

Newtown Garden Market (Plants) — 538 King Street

A green oasis on King St, it’s a hard task to pop into Newtown Garden Market and not leave with something leafy. Specialising in small garden and indoor plants this market is a must visit for green thumbs!

Better Read Than Dead (Books) — 265 King Street

The team’s passion for books at Better Read Than Dead is evident, making each visit to this haven for book lovers a personalised and delightful experience. A must-visit for those seeking literary treasures and a cozy ambience!

Domo 39

Domo 39 (Breakfast + Lunch) — 5/2 May Lane

On the Southern end of St Peters train station, you can’t miss Domo 39 — inspired by the konbini (convenience stores) of Japan. Either grab something to go from the fridge (bento, onigiri, cakes, mochi or drinks) or take a seat and order something to eat in.

Comedor

Comedor (Dinner) — 182-184 Australia Street

Comedor is housed inside a 100-year-old warehouse on Australia Street, around an open kitchen where chef Huerta and his team can be seen at work. The menu is inspired by chef Alejandro Huerta’s Mexican heritage but with a fresh take — think cardamon margaritas and cured snapper crudo with salted green apple and furikake. Yum!

Famelia (Wine Bar) — 55 Enmore Road

Champions of women winemakers, Famelia is a wine bar and bottle shop with a great vibe and wonderful service, owned and operated by sommelier, Amelia Birch. Put it on your must-list and go and sample the phenomenal creations of women winemakers, women-led wineries, and wife + husband teams.

Edo Matcha

Edo Matcha (Matcha Cafe) — 488 King Street

This cosy shop specialises in organic matcha from two regions of Japan, Kyoto and Kumamoto, as well as organic loose-leaf tea, including gyokuro, sencha, genmaicha and hojicha. The vibe is welcoming and owners, Taka and Holly, are ready when you are to share their wealth of knowledge on the teas they stock.

Le Gourmaud

Le Gourmaud (Vegan) — 414 King Street

French food, made by French folks — and all vegan! Think *buttery* croissants, pain au chocolat and madeleines to Croque Monsieur and vegan pâté. Drop in for a coffee and something delicious (you can’t miss the macarons) from this family run business.

The Project Snail

The Project Snail (Pottery Classes) — 527 King Street

The Project Snail is a ceramic design studio on King St that runs pottery classes with the incredibly talented Daegeon Song. A range of classes are available for beginner and intermediate-level ceramicists, with clay, glazes and firing all included.

Outlet Newtown

Outlet Newtown (Vintage) — 537 King Street

Outlet Newtown is a treasure trove store that’s part gift shop, part outdoor-adventure supplier stocking a thoughtful selection of both vintage and new products. Think colourful enamel cookware, hurricane lamps, retro wares and vintage clothing including a range of vintage workwear.
