Pattern Used: Papercut Patterns — Lulee Dress

Lulee features a classic darted bodice with a hip skimming bias cut skirt and is able to be made in mini or full length with long or short sleeves. Genevieve made a size 5 based on her measurements and says the fit was spot on; comfortably snug from waist to hip with a little room around the bust. Our Gardenia Midweight Linen made for a beautiful fabric match and Genevieve's dress took 3.1m of this 100% linen.

This project took Genevieve about seven hours over a couple of sessions and she says the instructions were easy to follow. She chose to hand baste the binding around the back neck opening before stitching in place so she could get the right amount of ease and a neat finish. Genevieve recommends plenty of wonderclips (you can use pins too!) around the neck edge to allow even distribution of the binding. She also noted that zip insertion on the side seam is a little tricky - she recommends sewing one side, then placing a pin at the join from the bodice to the skirt to align the seam properly on the other side. Genevieve didn't make any major pattern alterations, but she did elasticate the sleeves instead of binding them, to give the option to push up for shorter sleeves and for general comfort.
