Pattern — Ginger Tie Top by Small Museum
The Ginger Tie Top is a simple summery style, featuring front and back bodice panels with ties at the sides. We made up a size 8 for Emma, who usually wears a 10-12. It's always important to check your measurements against the pattern charts, as sizing can differ between pattern brands and your usual ready-made clothing! This top has some flexibility with fit due to its tie closures, and the size 8 turned out to be just right for Emma. The darts look to be little on the long side to us, something we would alter on the pattern if making it up again. Note that this top is fully lined in self-fabric, which meant we used 1.75m of our Midweight Warp Stripe Linen - Ivory / Red.
Ginger is an easy PDF print at home pattern with layered sizes, meaning you can hide the ones you don't want to print. We'd recommend doing this as the size lines can get a bit confusing around the neckline. Overall this was a great beginner friendly project, and would make a nice introduction to a bagging out a garment using the 'burrito method'. The instructions were very clear and there is also a video tutorial available, in case you get stuck!
