Online team member Bianca said she fell in love with this beautiful green coating as soon as it came in, and knew that she had to make a Poppy Coat! She's heading off on a trip to Canada soon, and a cosy Poppy to throw on over layers is just the ticket for northern travels! Read on for project details and lots of snuggly photos!
Pattern Used — Make by TFS Poppy Coat
Our Make by TFS Poppy Coat is a modern oversized coat pattern, with an enveloping silhouette and exaggerated detailing. This pattern is fully lined with a single front button closure, playful curved collar and notch lapel, long sleeves and generous front welt pockets. Two views provide alternative length options, with View A offered in full length and View B in mid length. With generous ease throughout the body, Poppy is ideal for layering up over sweaters and jackets to shield you from the elements in cool weather. Bianca made a size 6, which took 3.5m of Mohair / Alpaca Blend Coating - Emerald and 2.25m of Liberty Tana Lawn Adelajda / X for lining.
This coat project took Bianca around three or four days of sewing, spread over multiple sessions. She said she spent a fair amount of time pulling the fluffy pile out of some seams and combing it over to blend one piece into another. She found the size 6 a generous fit, and would probably size down to a 4 for her next coat. Bianca said she'll be wearing this coat during her trip to Canada in a few weeks time, and has a great fluffy blue bucket hat to wear it with!
