Ecommerce Manager — Auckland, New Zealand HQ

We are seeking an experienced, commercially minded Ecommerce Manager to join The Fabric Store in a full-time role. This is a senior, hands-on position, responsible for leading our online store, based at our Auckland HQ in New Zealand. Working closely with the General Manager and our small HQ team, you will oversee the performance, growth, and day-to-day operation of the ecommerce channel of our retail brand.

This role suits someone who enjoys both strategic thinking and rolling up their sleeves - balancing data with a creative understanding of textiles and sewing, to deliver a thoughtful, high-quality ecommerce experience that reflects our brand values. If you have been considering relocating to Auckland, we would love to hear from you!

About You:

  • Experience in fashion or textiles is essential
  • Proven experience managing an ecommerce retail store
  • A minimum of 5 years experience working with Shopify, in a multi-store environment
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills, with experience meeting sales targets and contributing insights for forecasting
  • Deep understanding of customer journey and conversion optimisation techniques
  • Confidence working with Shopify supporting platforms, sales channels and apps, including Shopify POS, Gorgias, Flow, Matrixify and Syncio
  • Experienced with Shopify and GA4 analytical tools for reporting and data analysis
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet critical deadlines and prioritise effectively
  • A proactive problem-solver who can identify opportunities and implement practical improvements
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience managing and developing a team
  • A technology advocate who enjoys improving systems and workflows
  • Calm under pressure and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail oriented and confident with repetitive tasks where accuracy and consistency are critical
  • Confident working across the Microsoft Office suite, including managing and transforming data in Excel

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure online orders are fulfilled accurately and within set timeframes
  • Deliver against ecommerce sales targets
  • Ecommerce product creation and copywriting weekly
  • POS product creation weekly, inventory management and reporting
  • Oversee site performance, usability, security, and overall customer experience
  • Use analytical tools to monitor performance, conversion, and customer behaviour, translating insights into action
  • Identify opportunities for new market growth and expansion
  • Identify areas of underperformance and implement strategies to improve results
  • Ensure product data is accurate, timely, and aligned with in-store launches
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and resolve escalated enquiries
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with ecommerce trade (wholesale) customers
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the ecommerce team in line with company values
  • Manage recruitment, training, rostering, and performance for the ecommerce team
  • Oversee ecommerce stock management, reordering, and inventory accuracy
  • Cut, pack, and dispatch ecommerce orders as required, leading by example during busy periods
  • Contribute to ecommerce marketing strategy, product selection, and growth initiatives
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and ecommerce competitor landscape
  • Prepare regular sales, inventory, and performance reports for senior leadership as required
  • Identify and improve internal systems and workflows to increase order accuracy, staff safety, and customer satisfaction

What we look for: For all of our retail store roles, we look to hire fabric-loving individuals and the ideal candidates will be those able to deliver exceptional customer service. You’ll also have a genuine love for fabric, as well as garment construction knowledge. In our retail positions, you will need to be pro-active in achieving sales targets and be passionate about providing a high level of customer service at all times. Previous retail experience is an advantage, however the ability to work in a team, passion for our product, and the right knowledge/skillset are the most important factors for us when hiring for our retail stores. The successful candidate will have an innate love for beautiful fabrics and will be excited to work in a creative and inspiring environment.
