Retail Store Manager β Newtown, Sydney
About the Role:Β
We are searching for a fabric-loving retailΒ leaderΒ to join us in the full-time role of Store Manager in our fabric store, located on King Street in Newtown, Sydney.Β
As a TFS Store Manager, you'll be an experienced leader who is proactive in achieving sales targets and passionate about providing a consistently high level of customer service. Reporting to the Regional and General Managers, you'll inspire your team to achieve exceptional results and create unique, memorable in-store experiences for our customers. Celebrating and recognising others, operational excellence, visual merchandising and fabric/sewing expertise will all come naturally to you.
This role is 38 hours, across Tuesday β Saturday.
Ideally you will have:
- A genuine passion and experience for home sewing and textiles. We are looking for a creative leader that understands the ways our brands foundational values are embodied in a retail setting, and how this can help enhance the skillset and wellbeing of our community.
- A connection to textiles, clothing and making
- A strong understanding of store and business KPI expectations & driving potential sales opportunities
- Exceptional time-management and organisational skills
- Confidence to work with the General Manager and Regional Manager and other HO team members to motivate, inspire and lead your local team
In this role you will:
- Think strategically to identify missed opportunities
- Ensure employees are aligned with store and business expectations
- Ensure employees are customer service ambassadors at all times
- Create a positive environment with employees and customers in the store with your vibrant interpersonal skills
- Manage the recruitment and training of all new and existing team members
- Ensure that our visual merchandising directives and standards are being kept and are in line with weekly marketing communications
- Complete rosters and ensure they are within the budgeted hours.
About The Fabric Store:Β
The Fabric Store is a boutique fabric retailer, that specialises in contemporary designer dress fabrics and textiles, with a strong focus on natural fibres. Our brand began in New Zealand, and now has stores throughout New Zealand and Australia, as well as an international online store. Fabrics are sourced from both local and international designers and include silks, linens, wool suiting & coatings, satins, cottons and specialty pieces such as merino jersey, leather hides and Liberty of London prints. Our foundational values of mindfulness, respect, creativity, and quality are embedded in all aspects of our company, and we carry out these values daily with a sense of community spirit.

What we look for: For all of our retail store roles, we look to hire fabric-loving individuals and the ideal candidates will be those able to deliver exceptional customer service. Youβll also have a genuine love for fabric, as well as garment construction knowledge. In our retail positions, you will need to be pro-active in achieving sales targets and be passionate about providing a high level of customer service at all times. Previous retail experience is an advantage, however the ability to work in a team, passion for our product, and the right knowledge/skillset are the most important factors for us when hiring for our retail stores. The successful candidate will have an innate love for beautiful fabrics and will be excited to work in a creative and inspiring environment.
